The Canadian Forces offers numerous programs that will pay for your son or daughter’s college or university education. In addition, he or she will be provided with a salary and benefits while attending school.

Paid College

If your son or daughter plans to become a Non-Commissioned Member in the Regular Force, he or she may be eligible to enrol through the Non-Commissioned Member Subsidized Education Plan (NCM SEP) External link to receive a fully funded college education.

Paid University

If your son or daughter plans to become an Officer in the Regular Force, he or she may be eligible to enrol through the Regular Force Officer Training Plan (ROTP) External link to receive a fully funded university education.

Reserve Force

If your son or daughter plans to become an Officer in the Reserve Force, he or she can enrol through the Reserve Entry Training Plan (RETP) External link, and will attend the Royal Military College. They will be required to pay for their degree program but there is no obligation to serve in the Canadian Forces after completing their degree.

While there is no official entry training plan for Non-Commissioned Members in the Reserve Force, partial education subsidies are available for all members of the Reserve Force who complete courses as part of an Individual Learning Plan.
